Indonesia's Purimas 3 Cake & Bakery

On our second day in Indonesia, we scootered down the busy jammed packed roads of Southern Bali, and stumbled across Purimas 3 Cake & Bakery. This bakery was packed with rainbow colored bite sized pastries and cakes that looked like they came straight from a 1980's grocery store (oddly, in a very lovely way).

We got a bunch of different baked goods to try out ranging from chocolate glazed doughnuts to bright green Angel Food Cake.
The doughnuts were extremely soft and fluffy, and with the crazy humid heat the chocolate glaze was melting a bit, which made them even better. There were many pastries that were a buttery flaky dough, almost like a croissant, filled with different things such as chocolate and some weird custard-like filling that I could not even begin to describe.
They were good, but nothing spectacular. This bakery was pretty  hyped on the gelatin jell-o like squares, which I cannot even stand the idea of eating, but people were buying them like Charlie Sheen buys crack.
Purimas 3 Bakery was a fun place to try out, but nothing keeps you running back for more. Well, the fact the adorable girls looked like people that work at the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland and that each pastry was around $1,700 Rupiah, only $0.17 USD, kept me a bit intrigued.

  1. The bakery has been in existence since 1936, which is a testament to the acceptance of its products by both the Indonesian people and also expatriate community who lives in Indonesia.
Purimas 3 Cake & Bakery has now spread to more than 20 cities across Java and 3 shops in Bali itself.
The products that we bake are both International and Indonesian specialities that are not found in bakeries in Western countries and therefore we encourage all visitors to try these local specialities, which most people enjoy. The reason that the goods are well accepted by the Indonesian community is due to the fact we use good quality products & ingredients and that we supply a vast variety of products. Important ingredients are still imported such as butter, full cream milk powder and others, which we use the high end brands. The Indonesian and expat community has had the trust in us all these times with many regular customers that we take much pride and respect in.
As the company has special deals with all suppliers and as we buy in bulk, we are able to pass on these special prices to the community and that is why the price can be very low.
Don’t compare the price to the US...Indonesia is different to US and it is far cheaper for us to produce quality products and it is important that our price is affordable as we cater for all different levels of class in Indonesian community.
As the owner of Purimas, we feel very insulted by your last comment as my workers who willingly smiled for your camera’s were commented as working in a Haunted mansion. These workers have been with our bakery for many years and extend their smiles to all customers.

  2. Wow! I am sorry that you feel that my post was insulting of your bakery. It was not meant to be taken that way. My mention of the prices being low is that, since 99% of my readers are from the US, trust me, people want to come to a bakery where the prices are not sky high. I did not mean to for it to come of like the quality was bad, because it was not at all- we actually went two times!!
THe girls at your bakery were so helpful and very kind. I said they looked like they worked at the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland because that is my all time favorite ride at the theme park, and I have always loved the costumes the workers of the ride wear. Hence,be saying they looked adorable. It was not meant to be taken as a rude comment at all.
Im sorry if you took offense to my post , but it was not meant to be taken like that at all.

    1. I laughed and gobsmacked at the same time to read the reaction of the owner of the joint. Maybe because they are too busy with the business - no time for compliments. lol
