At the push of a button, we might soon be able to get cupcakes at any hour of the day; Now I know the Sugar King in the sky is answering my prayers! Rumor has it Sprinkles Cupcakes is making a ATM machine that is going to spit cupcakes out at us, along with cupcake mixes, doggie cupcakes, and apparel.
And on top of all this, Sprinkles is going to be opening Sprinkles Ice-cream! Ice cream in cones, ice cream cupcake sandwiches, cookies, brownies, AMEN! Check out the articles below for some more info on this wonderful news. Now we just need to figure out how to get these on every street corner!
The past 2 weeks I have been lucky to be able to travel the land of sushi, men dressed like popstars, and girls like dolls, and the cleanest city EVER! Well people, I was in Tokyo, Japan. Yes the rumors are true, their 7-11 has better sushi than most high end restaurants in the states. The traditional japanese food was to die for, while some other things I found on my plate, seemed to be more crazy then Heidi Montag.
And yes I am vegan, but for this trip I had to really indulge in the fish. Because, seriously, when in Japan, you eat SUSHI. When in Italy, eat a whole pizza smothered in cheese. They are just no brainers!
( One situation that this will never work on, is with meat, (cows, chicken, pigs); no matter where i may be in this world, if they are known for their meat, I WILL NOT DEVOUR! thanks though.)
Lesson 1: Natto
Video: Me eating Natto my first day in japan, (in our ver nice hotel, hence why I'm whispering). Thank god i was jet lagged!
Most people eat this daily as a breakfast side dish. It is soybeans that are fermented with Bacillus subtilis and contains a rich source of protein and probiotics, so basically its the best thing for you in the whole world. (I try to avoid soy whenever possible, but in this case, I had to try them!) The list of positive things it does for humans is out of control! Natto has crazy amounts of vitamin K, other vitamins that help prevent cancer, it helps reduce blood clots and cholesterol, and helps reduce aging!! But just try...cause there is no way in hell I would ever eat it again...or would I?? It smells like old gym shoes and has the texture of smily beans covered in what looks like melted marshmallows (think rice krispies).
Just because you avoid animal products, and your belly cant handle the gluten, doesn't mean that you cant celebrate your birthday in style! For my friend of mine, Gluten Free & Vegan Chocolate Almond Mocha Cake is the way she is raging tonight, and I bet the other guests wont even realise that its GF & Vegan!!! Chocolate Cake layered with Mocha Buttercream and layer of almond slivers, all smothered in Almond Buttercream! Happy Birthday Darianne!
You tempted? If you live in the Denver Area, hit me up on my website, blog, or email, and a cake will be in your mouth asap! If you don't live here, you can still order baked goods, such as sweet bread, muffins etc @ www.Devourbakery.com under the menu tab!!
For my friend Steph it is Good-Bye Colorado and Hello California. I decided to make her a little somethin' to leave her belly feeling good and her flavor-meter full. So with ocean inspiration and a desperate desire for some chocolate, I made some chocolate cake topped with a coconut milk frosting, mixed with some freshly crushed macadamia nuts. So eat your heart out world...Im off to Bali :)
Mr. Pat Milbery was ever so kind to bring me home some Matcha Powder straight from the land of Harajuku girls, sailor moon, and saki. Not only does Matcha Powder taste amazing, but it is "137 times greater than the amount of EGCG available from other commercially available green teas!!!" And if i can devour a cupcake while getting an antioxidant overload and a metabolism boost, then count me in. So to make great use to my newly acquired japanese powder of amazingness, I decided on making a Vegan Green Tea Buttercream with a Vegan Almond Cupcake topped with a Green Tea Japanese candy mushroom.
Thank you everyone for all your imput on the chocolate espresso cookies that needed a name!! I loved how most people thought the name had to do with nature/natural disasters, such as earthquakes, lava and the moon.
Well....Here they are!
Devour Bakeries brand new and improved Krakatoa Cookie (aka. Krak!)
I fell in love with this name when "Tom" wrote it on my blog, and I googled it, and realized it is a volcanic island in Indonesia. On August 27th, 1883 a series of blasts on the island of Krakatoa culminated in a colossal explosion that blew the island apart in one of the largest eruptions in recorded history; and who wouldn't want to eat a cookie named after this hot mess?!
I also got another name from a kid I went to high school with, Ricky Cady, and he wrote Chocolate Crack, and let me tell you that these are brain friendly crack.
So put two and two together, and there ya go, Krak- (Crack) atoa.
And to spread the love, Im will be sending them both a box of sweet tooth satisfaction
So Tom, who ever you may be, and Ricky...email (devourbakery@gmail.com) me your address!!!!
I need your help! Help me name these cookies, and whoever comes up with the best will get a lovely delicious vegan surprise!!! (The main flavors are chocolate, and espresso...)
Email, comment, facebook, twitter-which ever way you prefer, but please take 2 minutes out of your day and one thought out of that brain of yours and help me out :)
When I worked at the deliciously lovely Mulberries Cake Shop in Denver last year, I was lucky to be able to sell my baked goods at the shop. A lady from 5280 (local magazine) came in to do a review on Mulberries, and she mentioned my Vegan Banana Bread (she said scones...but whatev).
Check it out!!

On October 2nd,Patrick Macklin Milbery turned another year older.
And the cake I did for his celebration...coconut, oreo mousse...mmmmm
Another amazing year of life lived to the fullest by the most creative, upbeat, positive, most amazing pro snowboarder I have ever seen, loving, rad, old man, Pat Milbery! Hope the next year is even better than the last.
This past weekend I was the luckiest baker in the world. I was able to bake cupcakes for the worlds first ever snowboard movie premiere at Red Rocks in Morrison Colorado. If you don’t know what Red Rocks is...go google it and get then finish reading this. So…now you know that everyone from The Beatles to Ziggy Marley have preformed at Red Rocks. For this event, tons of professional snowboarders and hip-hop artists, such as Del the Funky Homosapien, Bukue One, and The Cool Kids devoured my (Horchata, Chocolate/Vanilla, Lavender Lemon, and Chocolate Peanut Butter) cupcakes backstage.
So far, best night of my “career life” when I saw the entire display gone, and even got mentioned on in an article!! Check them out!!!
I am on a mission to find the bakeries that offer it all- mouth-watering treats that also look more amazing than they taste. I believe that if a first bite takes your tastebuds on a thrill ride, then every single crumb is guilt-free and everyone needs to know about it. One day in Berkeley, California while waiting with my mom and older sister in a long line for a cupcake truck (not even knowing if the cupcakes were actually any good!!) I told them; “I am going to devour some tasty thing at bakeries throughout the world. And I’m gonna let everyone know which bakeries they should not pass up, and which ones they should not even waste their time with.” Because nothing is more disappointing than biting into a $4 cupcake and having it taste more dry and bland than Saltine Crackers. So, to save everyone the pain, I will let you know about which bakeries I would skip or which ones you have try, no matter how far away from you that bakery may be.
Some of my earliest memories are about baking; watching the ingredients of chocolate chip cookies mix together in a white KitchenAid mixer with my dad by my side, jumping for joy upon receiving baking classes for my birthday from my Aunt, and getting to lick the batter covered wisk with my older sister when our mom was done making some sweet concoction. I grew up in Northern California, and in highschool, I fell in love with art; drawing, painting, photography, you name it, I loved it. I went to college at the University of Colorado, Boulder and majored in painting. The day I realized I could take my art and put it directly on something that tasted great too…well, I knew what I wanted to do with my life from that day forward. I am now 23 years old and live in Denver, Colorado. I have worked at different bakeries in Colorado, decorating cakes, pastries, and cupcakes, as well as being the Wedding Coordinator at a Denver bakery. I currently decorate at a bakery in Arvada, Colorado, and do freelance baking/decorating and specialize in vegan, gluten and sugar free yummy treats. My most devoured product is my Vegan Chocolate Chip Banana Bread …soon to offered sugar free!!
